Students from Viamonde, a public French school board obtain their Microsoft Certification
Since I started my career as a teacher, I have always wanted to offer my students other learning that is not always included in a ministry curriculum, but which would facilitate their access to good income jobs, and be useful to them for their entire lives.
We attended sessions to teach our students 21st century skills, during one training session offered by CCI Learning at the Microsoft headquarters in Mississauga, the data below was presented to us.
After seeing these statistics, the computers certifications have been added to the list of gifts I would like to give my students before they graduate from high school. I assembled my team and we studied the feasibility of such a project.
Once we identified what we wanted, we submitted the project to the board. The leaders of the board immediately approved our plan and freed up the funds necessary to set up a Microsoft certification program.
To conduct the CCI certification training we collaborated with Fair Chance Learning, who agreed to support us in this great adventure. Together we have developed a content teaching program aimed at obtaining Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Publisher certifications. It was then that the Coronavirus surfaced and forced us to rethink our teaching strategy.
We are preparing to offer, next year, not only O365 suite certifications, but also programming certifications.

Nous avons alors des sessions pour enseigner à nos élèves les compétences du 21e siècles. Lors d’une formation offerte par CCI Learning au siège de Microsoft à Mississauga, les données ci-dessous nous ont été présentées.
Après avoir vu ces statistiques, les certifications se sont ajoutées à la liste des cadeaux que je voudrais offrir à mes élèves avant que ceux-ci n’obtiennent leur diplôme de fin d’étude secondaire.
J’ai réuni mon équipe et nous avons étudié la faisabilité d’un tel projet. Une fois que vous savions ce que nous voulions, nous avons soumis le projet au conseil. Les dirigeants du conseil ont tout de suite embarqué et ont dégagé les fonds nécessaires pour la mise en place d’un programme de certification Microsoft.
Nous avons conclu une entente de collaboration avec Fair Chance Learning qui avait accepté de nous accompagner dans cette belle aventure. Ensemble nous avons élaborer un programme d’enseignement du contenu visant l’obtention des certifications Word, PowerPoint, Excel et Publisher. C’est alors que le Coronavirus a fait surface et nous a obliger de repenser notre stratégie d’enseignement.
Neuf de élèves sur les douze qui ont écrit l’examen ont pu ainsi obtenir leur certification Word de Microsoft. Les élèves et le personnel chargé de ce projet sont content de cette réalisation qui est venue nous mette du baume au cœur en ce temps de pandémie où tout semblait déprimant. Les élèves de l’école sont ravis d’avoir une certification qui les aidera au quotidien. Pour Damiano Stagnani, ces nouvelles connaissances lui seront utiles pour ses travaux de classe. Mandeq Ibrahim, elle, est certaine que cet ajout à son CV lui permettra de trouver un meilleur travail d'étudiant ou d'été.
Nous nous préparons à offrir au courant de l'année prochaine, non seulement des certifications de la suite O365, mais aussi des certificatictions en programmation.
