Developing Digital Skills

The Living Space Program

This CanCode-funded project included two components: Digital Literacy professional learning workshops for Educators, and the Living Space action project.

Students monitored their environmental conditions, such as the carbon dioxide levels, relative humidity, and temperature, and compared their findings with Canadian Space Agency astronaut David Saint-Jacques’ environmental conditions while he is aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

In addition to helping students understand their environmental living conditions and its affect on their health and wellbeing, students developed digital literacy skills, including basic coding with the micro:bit.

Fair Chance Learning provided the professional development, lesson plans, and hardware to raise student’s well-being and support educators in integrating STEM.
