FCL assisted faculty members and staff at RETSD build educator capacity to support better learning outcomes for students.
The solution was a custom Yammer community designed and supported by Fair Chance Learning, in the spirit of an on-demand help desk for educators wanting both classroom best practices and technical support for teaching and instruction in a remote environment using Microsoft Tools (Teams, Office 365, Yammer). The help desk framework provides a rich pedagogy foundation to assist with educators’ professional practice, especially those aspects that involve the remote classroom, curriculum engagement, social and emotional learning, and motivation using a rich technological toolset.
Yammer, a social networking tool that openly connects and engages across the RETSD school system, offered educators a space to ask remote learning questions, tap into the knowledge of others and build on the existing work of the IT team at RETSD. With the creation of over twenty-five step-by-step tutorial videos and thirty plus hours of live help-desk participation from the FCL team, the pedagogical support centre resulted in customized assistance to meet the needs of the community and increase productivity and efficiency.
