FC Gaming: Where Esports meets Education

It’s an exciting day for us! Today we launch our Esports brand FC Gaming!

FCL is built on a culture of learning; we love to learn. Fun, joy and connection have always mattered to us, but during a global pandemic, the need was supersized. What we saw was a new way for our kids to connect during COVID with family and friends, in a place that was a point of frustration with online school. The shared activity of gaming became recess, the playground, a neighbourhood for our kids and their friends to feel fulfilled. We felt inspired too. Once we connected with established networks of professionals, advocates and gamers we found so many more points of connection and community - and opportunities for rich learning experiences.

As extreme collaborators, this became a space to do what we do best, curate an offer with those nailing it in Esports to make implementing a program easy for educators.

FC Gaming has partnered with NAECAD, NASEF, Gameplan and Bytespeed to offer a one-of-a-kind solution for those wanting to lean into Esports in education.

NAECAD - The National Association of Esports Coaches and Directors, is the primary professional organization for competitive Esports coaches and directors at all levels of competitive play (club, high school, college, and professional). The NAECAD vision is for Esports to be viewed as a prominent competitive sport with highly trained NAECAD members leading the professional development, growth, and quality of competitive Esports. We knew NAECAD was the go-to when it comes to Esports coaching experiences. NAECAD recognizes Fair Chance Learning as the exclusive K-12 Innovative Education Learning Experiences partner.

NASEF -  NASEF is on a mission to provide opportunities for all students to use Esports as a platform to develop STEAM-based skills and social emotional attributes such as communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities needed to thrive in work and in life. We love NASEF’s holistic approaching to supporting Esports in education and are proud to be the first Canadian affiliate.

Gameplan - Gameplan is a complete Esports management system by Learn2Esport. Users have the ability to organize and enhance their Esports team, club and/or class through tools, such as: lessons that teach in-game mechanics, as well as practices focused on wellness; drills to practice the newly-learned mechanics; game review tools to analyse gameplay and consider areas of improvement.

ByteSpeed - ByteSpeed has been a leading IT solution resource since 1999. In addition to custom building computer hardware, ByteSpeed also leverages strategic partnerships to sell other quality technology solutions. The world of computer hardware can be overwhelming; it’s easy when researching “gaming capable hardware” to get caught up with the specifications, and what is needed to play video games. In some cases, you may get upsold on solutions that are more expensive and capable than what is necessary. In other cases, you may buy solutions that aren’t capable enough, out of limitations of budgeting. We wanted to ensure that we partnered with an organization that is brand-agnostic, and capable of developing solutions specifically for your needs. ByteSpeed has an extensive knowledge of gaming-capable devices, and furthermore, are no strangers to working in education. Beyond their initial expertise with finding the perfect hardware solution for you, they also offer incredible, ongoing customer service.

We are very excited to step into this space and continue the mission of FCL to elevate learning experiences and opportunities for all.

As Einstein said, “play is the highest form of research”. We couldn’t agree more. Play matters
