Get Your Game on With Minecraft: Education Edition

Fair Chance Learning and Logics Academy team-up to bring Canadians Minecraft PD – FREE of charge!

Fair Chance Learning and Logics Academy have teamed-up FTW (gamers jargon meaning For The Win)! We are thrilled to release to Canadian educators funded professional learning for game-based learning using Minecraft: Education Edition.

Our Minecraft: Education Edition training sessions are flexible to suit a variety of professional development goals and curriculum subject matters such as English and Language Arts, Math, Chemistry, History, and Coding. Through the ½ day, full day, and two-day training opportunities, educators can become Certified Minecraft: Education Edition Educators, and earn Minecraft badges on the Microsoft Educator Community.

As with students using Minecraft: Education Edition in a classroom, our training accommodates all levels of learners together. Our training sessions explore sets of tutorials and game features that bring subjects to life in Minecraft: Education Edition and supports educators in classroom management and formative assessment.

“Using Minecraft: Education Edition our hands-on professional development experiences help educators understand how to bring the game as an educational tool to classrooms,” says Dustin Jez, CEO and Co-Founder of Fair Chance Learning. “Educators will leave our training ready to deliver their first lesson with Minecraft: Education Edition.”

Minecraft: Education Edition is a game-based learning platform with standards-aligned content across K12 subjects and special features designed for classroom use. Through Minecraft: Education Edition, students engage in immersive STEM learning opportunities through project-based lessons, and build critical 21st century skills like collaboration, creative problem-solving and digital citizenship.

“Game-based learning using Minecraft: Education edition unlocks immersive STEM learning opportunities and encourages the development of creativity and innovation through exploration, storytelling and digital learning,” says Ramy Ghattas, Co-founder and CEO of Logics Academy.

The pedagogy of game-based learning with Minecraft: Education Edition is founded on six principles: The Failure Dynamic, The Flexibility Dynamic, The Construction Dynamic, Situated Meaning, Systems Thinking and Building Empathy. By combining game-based learning with the already-popular video game, Minecraft, students can learn their curriculum and develop future-ready skills through a tool they either are already familiar with or are eager to ‘play’ with, and will definitely enjoy.
