FCL Year in Review - 2019
What a year!
Maybe we say that every year, but we can't help it. We have been fortunate to experience meaningful growth in 2019 and meet our mandate of pushing forward the digital transformation in education. We are not done, far from it, but the impact we are having is palpable - and at the end of the year what is a better feeling than that!
It is through partnerships that our best work is done. When we reflect on our year, strong relationships, common goals and the value of "better together" are woven throughout and result in what have been truly remarkable moments.
We put together a quick highlight reel. You will see moments from the TransformEd Educator Summits, AI Bootcamp, Computer Science Week with HP and Makerspace Challenges. Our CEO Martha Jez moderating the CoSN Canadian Delegation Education Leadership Roundtable with John Malloy and Michael Fullan and taking us beyond the Hour of Code connecting with Fountain Youth Initiative in Kenya (all with her 7 month old in tow). 2019 saw FCLedu throw axes, most recently at BIT19 where we hosted the official social event and hacked the SDGs. We ran a March Break camp with ICTC and Telus Spark in B.C. and attended micro:bit Live in London, England.
We formed new partnerships with CCI, InkSmith and Logics Academy and deepened our existing relationships with Microsoft, WE and HPedu.
Our final thought for the year, comes from our CEO Martha Jez, "We need to be our best selves when we work in education - and it starts with the human connection". To the thousands of educators and students we worked with this year, we tip our cap and say thank you for inspiring us and continuing to change the game in the fast-paced world of education.
