It's all about their story- John Polanyi Collegiate Institute 'Power Your Future' Program
Fair Chance Learning had the amazing opportunity to work with JPCI on behalf of hp to help integrate technology into the "Power your Future" summer program. Through access to the technology the students connected with the awesome educators who were helping them achieve their goals for the summer program. Student learning drove the course work and through blogging and creating presentations about themselves these students showed up to share with their teachers their talents, strengths, abilities and understanding. The main theme that came out of the program was the storytelling. Each student brought their own personal story to their literacy, numeracy and leadership classes. The way the teachers and students worked together to capture and share student learning through personal stories is a demonstration of the new learning environment where creativity and collaboration help develop and support the critical thinking and inquiry based learning that is required for students of this century. I got my head stuck in the Clouds!
So what is Cloud Computing? I feel like there could be some pretty witty answers like- cloud computing- wrapping a computer in bubble wrap to protect the school’s investment- okay that might not get top marks for the witty category. But dumb humour aside let's try and find another metaphor you may relate too. Cloud computing is like setting the table for a meal that can suit everyone’s dietary and physical requirements- from the children to the grandparents everyone has a shot at using the utensils they need when they need them.
The Key Words: Accessibility, Efficiency, Scalability, Equity, Affordable.
